Aurèle Amenda
A towering young centre-back with Bundesliga experience, now tested by the physical demands of the Premier League with newly promoted Coventry.
Playing Style Summary
Amenda is a 1.97 m centre-back whose height and reach make him a natural dominator of his own penalty area. A Young Boys academy product, he made his professional debut in February 2022 and joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2024, playing 29 times for them in 2025-26. In July 2026 he moved to Coventry City, Championship winners in 2025-26 and back in the Premier League for the first time since 2001. He has been part of the senior Switzerland squad since his debut against Serbia in November 2024 and was named in the 2026 World Cup squad.
Defining Traits
Aerial Dominance
His height and reach let him attack crosses and long balls with authority, both defending his box and attacking set pieces.
Long Levers in the Tackle
A long stride and reach allow him to recover ground and get a foot in where shorter defenders would be beaten.
Composed Build-Up
Raised in Young Boys' possession-oriented environment, he is comfortable receiving from the goalkeeper and moving the ball on calmly.
Development Upside
Still in his early twenties, he is in the phase of turning physical gifts into consistent top-flight decision-making.
Strengths
- Aerial ability in both boxes
- Physical presence against target forwards
- Reach and recovery stride in one-v-one defending
- Composure on the ball in early build-up
Limitations
- Limited top-flight starting experience compared with established internationals
- Larger frame can make sharp turns against quick, low-centre-of-gravity forwards harder
- Consistency of positioning still developing under sustained pressure
