Désiré Doué
A ball-carrying wide creator with a midfielder's brain — elite dribbling, relentless work rate, and a Champions League final brace before turning 20.
Playing Style Summary
Doué is a two-footed attacker who can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, combining close control and progressive ball-carrying with an unusually high defensive output for a forward. He joined PSG from Rennes in 2024 and broke through in 2024-25, scoring twice and assisting once in the 5-0 Champions League final win over Inter and becoming the first teenager to score twice in a European Cup final. He won Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year in both 2024-25 and 2025-26 as PSG won back-to-back Champions League titles. He was part of France's 2026 World Cup squad and scored his first World Cup goal against Norway.
Defining Traits
Progressive Carrier
He moves the ball forward by running with it — gliding past the first line of pressure and carrying play into the final third.
Tight-Space Dribbler
Low centre of gravity, quick feet and both feet available mean he can beat a man in either direction, even when surrounded.
Midfielder's Vision
Having grown up as a central midfielder, he reads the game from inside — knowing when to combine rather than dribble.
Defensive Engine
Works back aggressively and tackles at a rate unusual for a winger, which is why Luis Enrique trusts him in a pressing front three.
Strengths
- Elite dribbling and progressive carrying
- Two-footedness — dangerous cutting inside or going outside
- Versatility across the front line and attacking midfield
- High pressing and defensive work rate for a forward
- Big-game temperament proven in a Champions League final
Limitations
- Finishing consistency still developing — goal output has not yet matched his chance involvement
- Can over-carry and lose the ball in dangerous areas when a simpler pass is available
- Slight frame means he can be knocked off the ball in physical duels
