Course 03 - The Check-Away Movement
The check-away is the shadow striker's signature movement. It is a **two-step deception**: a baited first move in one direction that commits the marker, then an explosive plant-and-burst in the opposite direction to receive in space. The check-away is not "running into space" — running into space is what untrained players do. The check-away **manufactures space** by manipulating the marker's weight, eye-line, and committed step. When executed correctly, the marker is 1.5–3 metres behind the shadow striker at the moment of reception, with no recovery angle. When executed incorrectly, the marker is on the shadow striker's back-shoulder, killing the next action.
