Course 06 - Link-Up Play and Combination Passing

The shadow striker is the **most combination-versatile player on the pitch**. Because he operates between lines, he can play **all three roles** in every combination: he can initiate (drop and play), he can be the wall (lay-off back), and he can be the finisher (arrive at the end). No other position has this triple versatility. Modern defending neutralises 1v1 attacking moments. The combination — two or three players executing a coordinated sequence in 1.5–4 seconds — is what breaks organised defences.
