Course 09 - Finishing as a Second Striker
Shadow striker finishing is **fundamentally different** from #9 finishing. The #9 typically finishes from a known starting position with a setup pass; the shadow striker finishes from a moving arrival — in the half-space, mid-stride, often with a defender 1.5–3 m behind and a goalkeeper closing the angle in 200–300 ms. The shadow striker's finishing context creates four constraints that the #9 rarely faces:
