Inside Foot Passing Drill

This drill focuses on practicing the inside foot pass, enhancing players' accuracy and timing. Players will work in pairs to effectively deliver and receive passes while maintaining proper technique.

Objective

To develop precise inside foot passing skills in various scenarios.

Setup

Set up a 10x10 meter grid using cones. Pair players up and position them facing each other, about 5 meters apart. Each pair will need a soccer ball.

Drill Steps

  1. 1

Start with one player passing the ball using their inside foot to their partner, who will receive the ball with their inside foot.

  2. 2

Both players should focus on keeping their non-kicking foot alongside the ball for better balance and accuracy.

  3. 3

After a set number of passes (e.g., 10), players should switch roles, allowing each to practice both passing and receiving.

  4. 4

Introduce movement by having players take a step back after every five successful passes, increasing the distance between them.

  5. 5

For added complexity, after passing, players can move to a designated cone to simulate game-like scenarios.

Coaching Points

  • Use the inside of your foot for better control and accuracy.
  • Keep your head up to maintain awareness of your surroundings.
  • Follow through your pass to ensure better distance and precision.
  • Aim for your partner's foot to increase the quality of the pass.
  • Use your body position to indicate your intention to pass.

Variations

To make it easier, reduce the distance between players. To increase difficulty, add defenders or require players to pass while moving.
