La Croqueta Dribbling Drill
This drill focuses on mastering the La Croqueta move, allowing players to evade defenders with agility and precision. Players will practice the move in a controlled environment, developing their dribbling skills and confidence in one-on-one situations.
Objective
To teach players how to perform the La Croqueta move effectively to bypass defenders.
Setup
Set up a 10x10 yard grid with cones marking the corners. Position two players at opposite ends of the grid, with one player acting as a defender and the other as an attacker. Ensure there is enough space for players to practice the move comfortably.
Drill Steps
- 1
The attacker starts at one end of the grid with the ball, while the defender stands a few yards away.
- 2
The attacker dribbles towards the defender at a controlled pace, preparing to execute the La Croqueta move.
- 3
As the attacker approaches the defender, they use the inside of one foot to push the ball quickly to the opposite foot, shifting their body to get past the defender.
- 4
After completing the move, the attacker accelerates away from the defender and continues dribbling to the other end of the grid.
- 5
Switch roles after each attempt, allowing both players to practice being the attacker and defender.
Coaching Points
- Focus on quick foot movement during the La Croqueta.
- Use body feints to sell the move to the defender.
- Ensure the ball is pushed directly to the side for a clean transition.
- Maintain a low center of gravity for better balance and control.
- Encourage players to accelerate immediately after the move.
Variations
To make the drill easier, increase the distance between the attacker and defender. For a more advanced challenge, add a second defender or require the attacker to perform the move within a tighter space.
