Perfect Pass Precision Drill

This drill focuses on enhancing passing accuracy and technique through repetition and feedback. Players will work in pairs to practice short and long passes, emphasizing proper foot placement and follow-through.

Objective

To develop precise passing skills and improve players' overall passing technique.

Setup

Set up a rectangular area about 20x30 yards with cones marking the corners. Divide players into pairs and have them start at opposite ends of the rectangle, with a ball for each pair.

Drill Steps

  1. 1

Each pair of players stands about 10 yards apart, facing each other.

  2. 2

One player starts with the ball and performs a short pass to their partner using the inside of their foot.

  3. 3

The receiving player controls the ball and then returns the pass with the same technique.

  4. 4

After 5 passes, players switch roles and repeat the process, focusing on accuracy and technique.

  5. 5

Once comfortable, increase the distance between players to practice longer passes while maintaining accuracy.

Coaching Points

  • Use the inside of your foot for greater accuracy.
  • Follow through in the direction of your target.
  • Keep your head up to scan for passing options.
  • Ensure your non-kicking foot is planted beside the ball.
  • Practice both short and long passes for versatility.

Variations

To make the drill easier, reduce the distance between players. To increase difficulty, add a defender to apply pressure during the passing sequence.
