Precision Passing Relay
The Precision Passing Relay focuses on enhancing passing accuracy and teamwork. Players will work in pairs to complete a series of passes while racing against other pairs, promoting both skill and competitive spirit.
Objective
To develop accurate passing and improve communication between teammates.
Setup
Set up a rectangular area approximately 20x10 meters. Place cones at each end to mark the starting and ending points. You'll need at least four players, split into two pairs, and a soccer ball.
Drill Steps
- 1
Each pair starts at one end of the rectangle with one ball between them.
- 2
Player A passes the ball to Player B, who must control the ball and then pass it back to Player A.
- 3
After completing the pass back, Player A runs to the opposite end, while Player B follows with the ball.
- 4
Once they reach the opposite end, they repeat the passing sequence back to the starting point.
- 5
The first pair to complete the relay wins, but focus on making accurate and controlled passes.
Coaching Points
- Focus on proper body positioning when receiving the ball.
- Encourage players to use both feet for passing.
- Emphasize the importance of communication during the drill.
- Remind players to keep their heads up to scan for options.
- Reinforce the need for a firm but controlled pass.
Variations
To make it easier, allow players to take a touch before passing. For a more challenging version, increase the distance between the cones or add a defender to intercept the pass.
