Michael Olise
A left-footed right winger who thinks two moves ahead — unhurried on the ball, lethal cutting inside, and the most productive creator in the Bundesliga.
Playing Style Summary
Olise is an inverted right winger whose game is built on calm, precise decision-making rather than raw speed. Starting wide on the right, he drifts inside onto his left foot to shoot, slip through-balls or curl crosses to the far post, and he is comfortable finishing and passing with either foot. Since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in 2024 he has become one of Europe's most productive attackers, finishing 2025-26 with 15 Bundesliga goals and a league-leading 19 assists and winning the Bundesliga Player of the Season award. At the 2026 World Cup he was France's chief creator and finished as the tournament's top assist provider.
Defining Traits
Inverted Creator
Receives wide on the right and drives inside onto his left foot, opening angles for a shot, a reverse pass into the box or a curled ball to the back post.
Unhurried Composure
He plays at his own tempo — slowing down in tight areas, inviting the defender to commit, then releasing the ball at exactly the right moment.
Final-Ball Precision
His assist output is built on quality rather than volume: disguised through-balls, cut-backs and whipped deliveries that land in the corridor between keeper and defenders.
Two-Footed Finishing
Although predominantly left-footed, he finishes and passes with his right as well, which makes him hard to show onto a 'weaker' side.
Strengths
- Elite chance creation from the right half-space
- Composure and ball retention in congested areas
- Shooting threat after cutting inside from the right
- Varied final ball — through-balls, cut-backs and far-post crosses
- Consistent goal-and-assist output at the highest level
Limitations
- Not an explosive sprinter — relies on timing and deception rather than pace to beat a full-back
- Can drift out of games when opponents double up and deny him the inside channel
- Heavy creative load means his output can dip when the team's build-up is disrupted
