Thelo Aasgaard

A goal-hungry attacking midfielder who drifts between the lines and punishes defences with late arrivals in the box.

Playing Style Summary

Aasgaard is an attacking midfielder who spent time in Liverpool's academy before joining Wigan Athletic at 14, making his professional debut in October 2020 and going on to score 23 goals in 140 league games for the club. After a short spell at Luton Town he joined Rangers in July 2025 for a reported £3.5 million, and on 2 September 2026 he moved to Anderlecht on loan with an option to buy. For Norway he made an emphatic impression by scoring four times off the bench in the 11-1 qualifying win over Moldova, and he went to the 2026 World Cup.

Impact From the Bench

Can change a game quickly as a substitute by adding fresh movement between the lines.

  • Flexibility across the number ten and number eight roles

  • Less influential when asked to play deeper and build play
  • Not an explosive athlete in open-field duels
